The Room
Down a short flight of stairs off East 53rd Street, past a sign you might walk by twice, the noise of Midtown falls away. What's left is low amber light, the hush of a small crowd, and a piano finding its way into the first set.
Tomi Jazz opened to the public in 2010, when Ken Mukohata turned what had been a members-only Japanese club into one of the city's most quietly beloved rooms. It has stayed intimate on purpose — a handful of tables, a proper bar, and live music every single night.
“A Cozy Jazz Club, if You Can Find It.”

“One of the coolest places I've been to this year.”
Covered its 2010 opening to the public — a hidden room, finally shared.
Named among New York City's best jazz clubs.
For Musicians
Tomi Jazz books live jazz every night of the week — and we're always listening for new voices.
An intimate room, a real listening crowd, and a NYC stage with history. If you play, we'd love to hear you. Send a few links and a note, and we'll be in touch.
Bookings by email only — no phone inquiries, please.

We're basement level and easy to miss — that's rather the point. Head to East 53rd between 2nd & 3rd, find the sign, and take the stairs down into the warm.
